Josh Bram is a Senior majoring in Biology (Genetics and Development) and Immunology and Infectious Disease. Josh has been involved with the Humanitarian Engineering and Social Entrepreneurship Program (HESE) since Spring 2014 and has worked on several projects ranging from health care data usage to mobile payment systems to UTI test strips to SolStar. He has also traveled to Sierra Leone and Zambia as a member of the program. Josh plans to attend medical school upon graduation and focus on Public Health and further work in developing countries. Molly Eckman is a Senior majoring in Biomedical Engineering in the Schreyer Honors College. In her two years in the Humanitarian Engineering and Social Entrepreneurship program, she has traveled to both Kenya and Zambia to work on healthcare-related ventures. She has published multiple papers on topics related to social entrepreneurship and has presented at the 2014 Global Humanitarian Technology Conference in San Jose, CA. Molly will be attending medical school after graduation. Alex Gordon is a Senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on design. This has been the first semester that Alex has been involved with the Humanitarian Engineering and Social Entrepreneurship Program at Penn State, and he looks forward to continuing his participation in the future. Upon graduation, Alex plans to start his career in engineering, with the intent of attending business school and obtaining his MBA in the near future. Khanjan Mehta is the Founding Director of the Humanitarian Engineering and Social Entrepreneurship (HESE) Program and Assistant Professor of Engineering Design at Penn State. Mehta’s research interests encompass affordable design, systems thinking, social entrepreneurship pedagogy, and many more. He has served on several university-wide and international committees and task forces. Mehta has also delivered invited talks and keynote speeches on technology innovation, social entrepreneurship, and global sustainability at several universities and international conferences. |
